The basis of a team is obviously great players, but all of that is unimportant if a person cannot get their team to work well together. In the game of football, something that sets it apart from others is the team aspect. It requires just about everyone on a certain team to work as one, and if not, they will more than likely lose the game. Unfortunately, it is not a solo endeavor. It takes a lot of practice to get the team chemistry where it needs to be, and many of them fall short.

Behind every successful team are even greater captains, ones that are making sure that every play goes the way that it should. Furthermore, if the play doesn’t work well, they will tell the other players their opinion to ensure that it doesn’t happen again. For Newcastle, it’s Smith and Butt, two who work exceptionally well together. Regardless of the shape of the game, they will be in it directing traffic and seeing any weakness in the opposing team.

In terms of the midfield position, there could really be no alternative. He is a born leader, much like his counterpart, and has the skills to match it up. He has played in every single season of the Premier League, and there is only a couple who could say the same. His style of play is rugged, and the way that he finesses the ball is something that hasn’t been seen by many people. He hasn’t been with the Magpies for very long, but he can identify what it takes to be a winner, as he is very dedicated to his new home. In the upcoming season, expect Nicky Butt to be a continued threat to the offense, as he will be letting nothing get by him.

In football, there is definite need for there to be some control and on the fly strategies for a team to win. Without it, it is essentially chaos and no one will get anything done. It isn’t every day that a leader is born, unfortunately, as it does take a certain skill set for a person to rise above the ranks. Firstly, any respecting team captain should really know what they are doing, to say the least. They should have a perfect mix of intelligence, skill, and even a little luck on their side if they want to be truly successful. If not, they will definitely have a short tenure.

Of the Toon, there is Alan Smith, a natural born leader. Fortunately, he is one with the combination of all of the things that it takes to be a leader, as he holds the reigns to one of football’s most prolific teams. It would be one thing to play for a team that really isn’t worth their weight, but we are talking about a team that’s known to be electrifying. He has pressed very hard on the team for them to be at the level that they are, and even though there still needs to be improvement, they are still one of the First Division’s top teams. Although the management is first class, there still is a lot to be said about the captain.

Even though he is a little hot-headed at times, committing more fouls than anyone else, he is still a great footballer. In this coming year, he will once again demonstrate why he has been chosen to be the captain of this team, and why Newcastle is known for producing. As the year approaches, fans will find out that this ma possibly be one of the greatest in football history.

There have been many great defenses in the history of the sport; those of which who have went on to win very many championships for their club. These teams have had two things in common: chemistry and will to win. On the football field, there really isn’t much else, as people want to impress everyone in attendance, and push forward to the top of their leagues. Day in and day out they train very hard, making sure their bodies are top physical form before they even step on the field.

The Toon has some of the best defense that is available in the First League, and is the very reason why they won it all the year before. It is the work of one particular captain, Nicky Butt, which has made this a reality. Not to take anything away from the stellar management, but this particular athlete is one where most of the acclaim should go. Combine that with the efforts of Alan Smith back at midfield, and they become a very formidable force, one that is well on the road to the cup.

While the Magpie offense may win a great amount of games, the defense is genuinely the one that keeps them in it when the opposing offense gets a great run at the goal. With these two captains making sure that they do not score, there’s also the loaner in Danny Simpson from Manchester that will surely make a difference in the upcoming season. When it comes to defense, the Toon will certainly be at the top of the charts when it is all said and done. And with Chris Haughton now taking the job from Alan Shearer in this season, it will certainly be one to be heralded as one of the best in Newcastle’s history.
